Elefantentreffen 2027

This isn’t a luxury tour. It’s a challenge, a rite of passage, and a memory you’ll talk about for years.

6 days 27th January - 1st February 2027

Every January, thousands of riders from across Europe point their bikes toward one of the coldest, strangest, most iconic gatherings in motorcycling: Elefantentreffen. Held in the snow-covered Witches’ Cauldron of Loh in Thurmansbang, Bavaria, it’s a rally like no other — a frozen amphitheatre filled with campfires, straw bales, sidecars, winter-spec machines, and riders who believe that adventure doesn’t stop when the temperature drops below zero.

For decades, Elefantentreffen has been a bucket-list challenge for anyone who loves motorcycles, camaraderie, and a bit of madness. It’s raw, it’s cold, it’s unforgettable — and in 2027, we’re going.

We set off on 27 January, returning on 1 February, with a loose plan, warm layers, and the understanding that winter riding demands flexibility. Routes may shift depending on weather, but the spirit of the journey never does.

What's included

  • 5 night's accommodation with breakfast
  • Entry to the rally
  • Guided motorcycle tour with a supportive lead rider
  • Carefully planned scenic routes
  • A relaxed friendly group atmosphere

Not included: fuel, lunch, dinner, drinks, travel insurance, channel crossing

Who this is for

This is for riders who want:

· A proper winter challenge

· A story they’ll tell for the rest of their lives

· A rally that feels more like a pilgrimage

· A chance to test themselves and their kit

· A raw, unfiltered motorcycling experience

It’s not for anyone who dislikes cold, mud, unpredictability, or the idea of waking up with frost on their tent.

Highlights

  • A true winter adventure — sub-zero temperatures, snow-covered forests, and the crunch of ice under your boots
  • Camping on straw bales in a frozen valley surrounded by thousands of like-minded riders
  • A legendary atmosphere of campfires, shared stories, improvised engineering, and steaming mugs of something strong
  • A sense of camaraderie you won’t find anywhere else — everyone is cold, everyone is muddy, everyone is smiling
  • A badge of honour in the motorcycling world — simply being there earns respect

Itinerary

The Journey to Bavaria

Life in the Witches’ Cauldron

Life in the Witches’ Cauldron

Winter riding means plans are made with the weather, not the calendar. Our general route takes us:

· From Calais

· Skirting Luxembourg

· Following the Rhine toward Koblenz

· Then cutting southeast into the Bavarian Forest

· Finally descending into the Witches’ Cauldron of Loh

Some days may be crisp and bright; others may be snow-dusted and slow. We adapt, we ride steady, and we look after each other.

Life in the Witches’ Cauldron

Life in the Witches’ Cauldron

The rally site is a bowl of snow, smoke, and steel. Expect:

· Straw-bale campsites

· Open fires burning day and night

· Icicles on tents

· Sidecars with snow chains

· Home-built contraptions that defy logic

· A sea of riders who’ve travelled from every corner of Europe

It’s chaotic, magical, and strangely cosy — the kind of place where strangers become friends within minutes.
